  50. Half a century from now, I envision a student in "History of computing"
  51. writing a term paper on "data-communication in the 20th century". After
  52. surfing the web for weeks he stumbles over the kermit/*/*.doc files and
  53. there it is, all the silly details, exceptions, things to be aware of,
  54. of almost every system that was capable of communication.
